New report on the religious freedom of Christians 2020

Every year Open Doors International publishes the World Watch List (WWL), the list of the top 50 countries where Christians in the world are most persecuted.

On January 15th 2020 at 14:00 (Italian time) will be the time when the new WWL 2020 will be published worldwide, a project behind which works during the year a team of Open Doors researchers committed to monitoring the situation of Christians in 100 countries around the world. The report will be presented in the press room of the Chamber of Deputies on the day of the launch (14:30), as usual in recent years at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

We anticipate that, taking into consideration the period from November 1st, 2018 to October 31st, 2019, in the WWL 2020 you will notice how the anti-Christian persecution in the world has again increased globally, confirming the escalation of religious nationalism in Asia and Islamic extremism in Africa.

The report is subjected to detailed analysis by an independent international body (International Institute for Religious Freedom – IIRF), which monitors and assesses in detail the methodology, analysis processes, design and research questionnaires used to compile the WWL.

What makes the WWL the instrument of excellence in measuring anti-Christian persecution is undoubtedly the bottom-up approach (field research), as well as the methodology chosen (and certified by an independent body) and the top-down approach (research on existing reliable sources). More and more media, non-governmental organizations, states and national and international bodies use it in their research and analysis.
