Call for Papers Special Issue on “Refugees and FORB”
The IJRF is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the International Institute for Religious Freedom, accredited by the Department for Higher Education and Training of the Republic of South Africa. Two important features of the journal are that it is the only journal that is specialized in religious freedom and that it is open access, ensuring easy distribution outside academic circles.
There are many reasons that people are forced to leave their country and become refugees; religion is one of those reasons. In some parts of the world, there are refugees because there is a religiously-motivated civil war. In another, religious minorities are targeted by the majority in a competition for scarce resources like land or minerals. In still others, people become refugees when they convert to another religion.
This special issue of the IJRF invites submissions that discuss the impact of freedom of religion or belief with respect to refugees. Possible topics include:
- Refugees and religious conversion.
- How do we determine how many are refugees because of FORB?
- How do countries treat asylum seekers that claim religion as the source of persecution?
The IJRF is an interdisciplinary journal. Submissions are invited from any relevant fields such as sociology, religious studies, theology, philosophy, law, political studies and international relations. Submissions may address specific situations or be theoretical. They can focus on a particular country or be international in scope.
Submissions to the IJRF should be 4000–6000 words. Authors should conform to the Guidelines for Authors found on the IJRF website. Acceptance is subject to peer review. Please send your submissions to ln.evag@rehcssiVxinraM.
The guest editor of this issue will be Marnix Visscher. Dr. Visscher is the legal coordinator for the GAVE Foundation, which works with refugees and asylum seekers in the Netherlands. https://juridisch.gave.nl/international
